A Meaningful Foundation for the Future of Healthcare – 2012 ONC Annual Meeting
Hot on the heels of a new survey that shows uptake of EHR/EMR is blasting by estimates; ONC is convening its annual end-of-year conference to talk up all of the accomplishments that have been made by ONC, grantees and other partners and stakeholders as well as the challenges of the years ahead. You can view the agenda for Dec. 12 or, if you are interested. You can follow the action through the webcast.
Follow all the action on Twitter (#ONC2012) and ongoing discussions on our LinkedIn page.

Last Chance to Submit a Video!
We received a number of great submissions for our annual meeting Video Challenge. You still have time to tell us what you or your practice, hospital, clinic, etc. have been doing to get wired. Submit your video online. The winner will be recognized at the annual meeting!

New This Week on HealthIT.gov: Health Information Exchange Case Studies
Check out how Health Information Exchange has been successful in the field.  The following HIE case studies highlight successes, challenges and lessons learned through HIE. For more data and information, visit the EHR implementation lifecycle steps and check out the National Learning Consortium (NLC).

EHR Infographic

ONC has developed a new EHR Infographic that will help patients understand EHRs and will show them how using health IT can help them more easily manage their health care. The infographic includes statistics about the use of EHRs and other e-health tools, and provides insights about how these tools could improve patient care and change the way health care is delivered. We encourage you to share it with others or embed it on your own site.

Privacy and Security

ONC’s Health IT Standards Committee – or more specifically the committee’s Privacy and Security Workgroup – has issued preliminary recommendations (preliminary recommendation [PDF - 711 KB]) about EHR module certification.

The workgroup is also asking you for "specific feedback" on a number of recommendations. If you are interested in the details, read our Buzz-Blog post.

Google+ page launch

We at ONC have also been busy this week launching yet another way to interact with you: a new Google+ page. It’s another forum for you to interact with the ONC, along with www.healthit.gov where you can find news from our blog, watch Health IT videos and interact with staff.

One of the functionalities of Google+ is the ability to hangout with ONC staff.

If you are already on Google + you can find and follow our new page at: https://plus.google.com/b/115897569896631074599/115897569896631074599/posts
